It was always going to get big audiences, but 70 million is beyond even CBS executive estimates, as 17 countries have already signed up to show the bombshell interview.
So far it has been revealed that 17.8 million viewers in the US and 13.3 million in the UK tuned into CBS’ Oprah Interview with Meghan and Harry – with that figure due to rise in catch up services.
In the US, the interview is already the highest rated entertainment special since the 2020 Oscars Ceremony. A CBS Special is planned for Friday night which will also bolster audiences.
It is expected a total of 80 countries will licence the interview ensuring viewing figures well over 70 million in total.
During the interview Meghan revealed that she felt that low due to the lack of support from the monarchy “or firm” as she called it and she even contemplated suicide.
It was also revealed that Prince Charles refused to take Harry’s calls after the shock departure from being leading royals. A rift between Kate Middleton and Meghan was also mentioned several times during the 120-minute special.
And even baby Archie’s skin colour was called into question before his birth by one royal (who remained nameless) putting shockwaves through the monarchy with accusations of racism being rife.
Meghan said it was not The Queen or Prince Phillip but refused to go into detail as it would cause too much damage.
