Following the tragic death of 8-month-old Azaylia Cain on Sunday, her Go Fund Me page has racked up an impressive £1.7m in well-wishers donations.
Heartbroken parents Ashley Cain, 30, and girlfriend Safiyya Vorajee, 34, had hoped to spend the money on a lifesaving trip to Singapore to undergo surgery to save their daughter from a rare and aggressive form of leukaemia – known as Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
They had raised their target goal within 24 hours of setting up the page.
However, earlier this month doctors in the UK admitted after several rounds of chemotherapy that there was nothing left to do to save her life and they allowed her parents to take her home to pass away peacefully.
It is thought the couple will be donating the Go Fund Me money to various Leukemia Charities to fund vital research to prevent any other parents going through the heartbreak they have had to endure.
In total 115,500 donations have been received totalling £1.7m.
Former footballer and Dad Cain thanked people for their donations before penning this beautiful tribute:
“My heart is shattered. You gave my life purpose, my face a smile, filled my heart with love and my soul with pride.
I can’t put into words my sadness and pain, there aren’t words to describe it. I love you with every ounce of my body and I miss you so much already.
You made me a better man. You made me the person I’ve always wanted to be. You’ve taught me more in your 8 months than I’ve learned my whole life.
I don’t know why you’ve been taken away from me and my heart aches in your absence.”
