HOW DID YOU FIRST GET INTO SINGING?
I’ve always had a thing for music. I was that kid putting on shows for my parents, making up performances in my head, insisting they sat through them. I was always involved with school plays and musicals, part of the choir, just anywhere there was a chance to sing. Growing up, it was all about women who owned the stage; Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, The Saturdays, you name it. I loved listening to them and feeling empowered. I had this keyboard with a CD slot, and I’d work through my CD collection for hours, belting out tunes into my neon pink mic. Honestly, it’s always felt like music lets me express what I can’t put into words, more like poetry through melody, so it’s been my favourite way to be myself.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU WHEN MAKING MUSIC?
I want to make music that lifts people up or helps them through hard times, even if it’s just by helping them forget their worries for a bit. It’s like therapy for me, but also I hope it speaks to others too. If someone’s having a rough day and my track helps them feel better, that’s the best feeling. I really want my music to be a safe space, where fans can connect, support each other, and just vibe together. It’s about community, and that’s a huge part of why I do what I do.
YOU HAVE RECORDED WITH MUSIC ROYALTY OVER THE YEARS – WHO WAS THE BEST TO WORK WITH & WHY?
That’s such a tough one! If I had to choose, working with Tiësto was unreal. Getting the chance to collab with a DJ of his level it was one of those “pinch me” moments where someone you admire actually believes in you. Meeting him backstage at his concert, seeing how genuine he was plus what he did with the remix of my original song made it such a turning point for me. It just felt like someone of his calibre backing me meant I might actually have a shot at this.
YOU HAVE BEEN PERFORMING FOR ALMOST A DECADE NOW – WHAT IS THE SECRET TO YOUR ONGOING SUCCESS?
Honestly, I feel like I’m always learning. Starting out at 14 and now being 23, it’s been a massive journey still figuring out who I am, meeting new people, coming of age, getting more independent. There have been so many changes, but I think the key is just staying true to myself, being open with my fans, and letting them in on the journey. I reckon that honesty is what helps people connect with me and my music.
WHAT MUSIC STAR INSPIRES YOU THE MOST?
Without a doubt, Beyoncé. I grew up listening to her, and the way she brings her music and shows to life is honestly so inspiring. Every song has a message and the love her fans have for her work is incredible. Whenever I need a bit of motivation or a reminder of what’s possible, it’s always her I go back to.
ARE YOU PLANNING ON TOURING/PERFORMING LIVE?
There are definitely a lot of chats happening about it, and I’m hoping to announce some shows in 2026. So watch this space!
WE’VE NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT SHIFT IN YOUR BRANDING RECENTLY. CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT INSPIRED THE REBRAND AND WHAT MESSAGE YOU HOPE IT SENDS TO YOUR FANS?
I’ve always been in the dance scene since I started out, and while I’ve loved it and learned so much, I feel ready to move more towards pop. That’s probably the biggest shift, but it’s also about knowing myself better now. I’ve been through a tough patch, really worked on myself, and finally feel comfortable in my own skin. I think you can see that confidence coming through. Going forward, it’s about making music that feels more “me” and connecting with people on that level.
WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCES IN THE INDUSTRY RIGHT NOW?
At the moment, I’m loving what Olivia Dean, Raye, and Zara Larsson are doing. I’ve followed Zara for ages and she’s just smashing it right now. She sounds great, looks amazing, really inspiring stuff.
YOUR NEW SINGLE, “RED”, HAS JUST BEEN RELEASED. CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG AND WHAT INSPIRED ITS NARRATIVE AND TITLE?
“Red” is definitely a bit sexy if I can say that! The whole video’s shot in red, I’ve got my girls looking incredible, and there’s a big flirtatious energy. But there’s more to it than that. It’s about knowing your worth: if you don’t treat me right, I’ll be gone before the morning. You see the stereotype of men leaving in the morning in songs all the time so I wanted to flip it. It’s empowering, a bit cheeky, and just a reminder that I don’t need anyone’s love to feel whole.
WHICH FASHION DESIGNER INSPIRES YOUR STYLING CHOICES THE MOST?
Honestly, I’m still finding my feet when it comes to fashion! For ages, I kept it simple,just trousers and tees and my team used to laugh at how laid-back I was. Lately though, I’m starting to explore more, work with different stylists, and figure out what suits me. No favourite designer just yet, but I’m enjoying trying new things.
YOUR PERFORMANCE AND STAGE PRESENCE HAVE GROWN ENORMOUSLY IN RECENT YEARS. YOU’VE WORKED CLOSELY WITH PINEAPPLE STUDIOS’ MARK BATTERSHALL. HOW MANY HOURS DO YOU TYPICALLY SPEND IN THE STUDIO REHEARSING CHOREOGRAPHY?
It really depends on the project, but if we’re getting ready for a music video, it’s usually around six to seven hours a day, four times a week. It’s pretty full-on, just like a regular work day in the studio to get everything looking sharp.
YOU’VE FILMED MUSIC VIDEOS BOTH WITH AND WITHOUT DANCERS. WHICH DO YOU PREFER? DO YOU FIND IT EASIER TO WORK SOLO, OR DOES THE ENERGY SHIFT WHEN YOU HAVE A FULL GROUP ON SET?
The energy definitely changes when you’ve got a crew of professional dancers backing you, you really step up your game. But it depends on the project. I do love the pressure and focus when it’s just me on set, but there’s also something wicked about everyone getting involved in a big group number.
OF ALL THE SONGS AND MUSIC VIDEOS YOU’VE CREATED, WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVOURITE AND WHY?
Tough call! I loved shooting “Love You Right Back”. It was a big moment for my image and where I want to go as an artist. My first solo performance, in a catsuit, filming in a mirrored box, I felt amazing, and the end result was exactly what I wanted. More recently, creating “Wildfire” was an amazing experience. It was really technical, building an AI world took so much behind-the-scenes effort and patience, but I’m obsessed with how it turned out, even if it was a challenge!
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE?
I’m already working on my next project for 2026, even though the EP just dropped! New producers, new vibes, I can’t wait to announce what’s next.
