Hello and welcome to my very first Surrey Rocks column.

Let me introduce myself – I’m Ria, Mum of two, married to my handsome hubby. I’m born and bred in my beloved Surrey and spend most of my time between here and London. I’m a handbag and shoe addict and lover of all things luxe.

I cannot wait to share with you all the exciting things that I get up to.

It seems fitting as this is my first column to talk about my daughter’s 1st Birthday party. I always like to throw something unique to mark the occasion. It also helps that my Mum is party planner extraordinaire Rula Parties. Throwing fabulous events is in our blood!

For this party, I wanted to go for the luxe bell tent picnic look. I used the lovely Tasha from The Hip Hoo Hooray who installed and dismantled the bell tent seamlessly. Alongside Tasha, Kim from My Little Tea Party who styled a beautiful picnic set up.

Poppy from The Glitzy Balloon Company (who are a cut above the rest) created the most stunning balloon installation which was like a work of art.

Did you know to create pastel colours, a bright coloured balloon is placed inside a paler colour which creates a beautiful muted tone? For that touch of prettiness, Fabienne Eggar added some flowers into the display. Fabienne is so talented and always lovely to deal with. She creates our Christmas tree display every year so stay tuned for that.

With all the above suppliers, coordinated by my Mum (thanks Mum!) we had the perfect day with some very instagramable pictures that we will cherish forever.

With holidays being pretty much cancelled this year, we thought we would take a well-deserved staycation, plus I really needed a break from household chores!

We stayed at the Corinthia in London. This is one of my favourite family-friendly luxury hotels. The rooms are fairly large for London, the service is excellent, food delicious and is a great location for getting around. Plus, they have the best spa in the world!

So, on Saturday evening I said farewell to my husband and children and walked down to the spa in my dressing gown and slippers. I went for a swim, had a snooze in the sleep pod beside the fire and had a blissful 1-hour massage.

Tears of joy were literally streaming down my face! I floated back to our room where I quite literally collapsed into our bed.

I had the best night’s sleep until my 5:30am wake up call from our children. And that my darlings, is what you call Mum life!
