Hilary Duff is back after a 10-year musical hiatus!

The singer rose to music stardom alongside her well-publicised acting career during the early 2000’s, releasing hit albums including ‘Metamorphosis’ and ‘Dignity’ in 2004 and 2007 respectively. She was hailed as “one of the defining pop voices” for a generation of Disney-era fans.

However, her sound has evolved from those cutesy, teen pop ballads in her early years to more mature electronic dance music influences starting from 2015’s ‘Breathe In… Breathe Out’ success.

Her brand-new sixth studio album called ‘Luck… Or Something’ – released by Atlantic Records – coming out on February 20th has been praised by music pundits and shows the more mature sound has carved out for herself today.

EARLY YEARS

Born in Houston, Texas, Duff, now aged 39, first rose to fame playing Lizzie McGuire in the Disney Channel comedy TV Series and subsequent ‘Lizzie McGuire’ movies aged only 14.

She also famously went on to star in blockbuster Hollywood movies ‘Cheaper By The Dozen’ and ‘Cheaper By The Dozen 2’ alongside comedian Steve Martin and taking the lead role in the hit Disney movie, ‘A Cinderella Story’ before breaking into the music industry in 2002.

Fast forward 24 years, 5 hit albums and over 10 million album sales to date – it’s been a long time since Duff was in the limelight having taken time off to get married and start a family.

FAMILY LIFE

Hilary Duff is married to acclaimed music producer Michael Koma and has 4 children.

Her first son Luca (aged 14) is from her first marriage to NHL star Mike Comrie whom she divorced in 2016.

She also has three daughters with her current husband, Michael Koma. The eldest is Banks Violet (aged 8), Mae James (aged 4) and Townes Meadow (18 months old).

Duff has been candid about the challenges and rewards of motherhood, describing it as “the best messiest thing ever!”

She often speaks about letting go of perfection, managing guilt and the intense, rewarding nature of raising children, calling it “by far the greatest blessing.”

She has not indicated whether she is planning on expanding her brood further although was quoted as saying that her family “felt complete” with the arrival of her fourth child in 2024.

NEW MUSIC

Duff admits she was nervous releasing new music since her last album ‘Breathe In Breathe Out’ debuted in 2015, but felt it was time to share her story and life experiences through her music.

Duff wrote on her Instagram: “My new album ‘Luck … Or something’ is out on February 20th – so much love, late night anxiety and a little chaos went into making this album – hoping you see yourself in here the way I have – I love you and excited is the largest understatement.”

This new album is being hailed as one of her best to date and is available in 3 editions and has been produced by her husband, Matthew Koma.
