If you’ve always contemplated wearing a one-piece swimsuit but dread the thought of looking more like Borat than Bo Derek then read on, as this is your definitive guide on how to select the right one-piece to suit your body shape. 

One-piece swimsuits have been around since the 1920s, but over the past few years they have evolved into one of the hottest pieces in our summer wardrobes…not convinced? If you have a small bust opt for a style with frills around the bust area, as this will add volume and create the illusion of a fuller bust. Alternatively, pleats or a padded cup work just as well. Those with a fuller bust should go for a one-piece with a v-neck and straps, bandeau styles and high neck swimsuits can be unflattering on larger busts as they emphasise the chest and you can end up looking too top heavy. Gym junkies, flaunt your abs in a one-piece with cut away sides and for a 2014 edge – opt for sheer panelling. Remember that vertical stripes will make you look longer and leaner, while horizontal stripes can add curves.
