Gibraltar Music Festival is now only in its third year and is managing to make headlines for attracting top global talent, despite competing with the Spanish mainland festivals. Gibraltar may be an island surrounded by Spain, Morocco and controversy, but it is definitely getting the acts.

If you look at a festival in relation to its location, Gibraltar is a milliscule dot on the map compared to Barcelona or Benicassim but the Gibraltarians are proud to be British (without meaning to get into politics the last referendum said 98% were) so Marbella Rocks assures you this will be a good time event with a nice, family-friendly crowd.
This year Irish crooners The Script are headlining, and their hit after hit ensemble will be massive. Chart topping ‘Love Me Again’ singer John Newman will also be taking part alongside Spandau Ballet’s frontman Tony Hadley.
Plus, 2012 X Factor winner James Arthur has also been announced as a supporting act. Although steeped in controversy, including Twitter rows and run-ins with X Factor boss Simon Cowell, James’ gravelly voice is second to none and hits like ‘Impossible’ should make for an entertaining set.
Definitely one to go to chill out and enjoy good music in the sun. This is not a Monegros or Sonar event, more like a top stage at Glastonbury to sing along to and enjoy the talent with top class acts with an audience that will not disappoint.
Held in the main square, Casemates, it is only a short 10 minute walk the Gibraltar/Spain border. We highly recommend parking in nearby Spanish town La Linea as opposed to driving into the event to avoid huge border queues in your car. Just don’t forget your passport.
