Fast becoming one of Spain’s most glamorous events, the annual Starlite Festival in Marbella attracts a nightly 60,000 strong audience entertained by a series of world class acts in an auditorium under the stars.
The festival begins on 23rd July and runs till 23rd August in La Cantera, an impressive open air auditorium built thirty years ago to stage festivals organised by Placido Domingo, Julio Iglesias (Enrique’s Dad) and Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe. The modern day reinvention of Starlite sees concerts for each act last three days and run on consecutive Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights.
This year you’ll get to see electronic pop duo Pet Shop Boys perform ‘West End Girl’ and ‘It’s a Sin’ to a packed out auditorium. Grammy award winning funk and jazz group Kool and The Gang, whose dance floor hits include ‘Celebrate’, ‘Get Down On It’ and ‘Big Fun’ have sold 70 million albums worldwide will also have you dancing in the aisles.
Other acts to be confirmed are ‘I Will Survive’ and ‘I Never Can Say Goodbye’ singer Gloria Gaynor whose disco classics rocked the 70’s. Her Starlite appearance coincides with her book ‘We Will Survive’ and the 35th anniversary of heartbreak song ‘I Will Survive’. Spanish pop queen Marta Sanchez will join her on the night entitled ‘Divas’ on August 7. Get your tickets early, as this is sure to be a sell-out gig.
The festival also attracts top world acts including Julio Iglesias Sergio Dalma, Dani Martin and Chucho Valdes.
