Getting to test drive the new Lotus Emira at the famous number one Bell & Colvill Dealership in West Horsley was seriously good fun. We were surprised by its comfort, wowed by its speed and mightily impressed with its outstanding aerodynamics, hydraulic steering and unrivalled driving experience.
The Emira is powered by either a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder or a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine through a manual, automatic or Dual Clutch Transmission, promising to deliver breath-taking performance and class-leading ride and handling – suitable for any driving capability.
I would definitely say in my car driving experience, the Lotus Emira is now a serious competitor to the Porche.
It is a junior supercar with everyday usability, beautifully balanced with excellent steering weight. Delivering a shift in practicality, comfort, functionality and technology, it is a true Lotus – nimble, mid-engined, exotic looking while still being competitively priced.
As a woman driver and tester, this car surpassed all my expectations… comfortable, convenient and a pleasure to drive. Even though most Lotus Amira buyers are men – this is a luxury sports car that is equally suited to women drivers.
The Lotus Emira accelerates to 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds before reaching a top speed of 180mph. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to hit the top speeds on our test drive around the Newlands Corner and Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – but we definitely got to pick up some speed and get a good feel for Emira’s capability.
