While the hair we create in salon is not defined by trends, we do look to them to keep your style fresh. We incorporate what is happening on the catwalk by blending inspiration and trends with hair that works for you. Each time you visit us in the salon you receive the full HARE & BONE experience. We are committed to progress, through continuous education and development of our team, so we always produce contemporary, yet wearable hair designs.

So what will we be recommending this autumn/winter?

Waves are sticking around for another season so there’s a softness to hair for the season ahead. Embrace the natural texture of your hair and work with the wave. Bobs are big for the coming months and there are so many variations that can be tailored to work with your hair type and lifestyle. French, Italian, flicked, bottleneck, Botticelli and, of course, the 90s bob. Another 90s look from everyone’s most  sought-after hair icon is the shoulder kissing style seen on Jennifer Aniston . This is all about movement and bounce. Keeping with the 90s feel, Jennifer Lopez’s long length is fresh and high end. Long hair needs lots of care to look that luxurious and I recommend using Oribe Hair Alchemy Shampoo and Conditioner. It moisturises and restores from within, making hair feel hydrated and strong.

Last season we spoke about how the money piece was a popular trend for colour. This season it has evolved to be a little more extreme. Now colour placement has moved to underneath the hair or even stripes of highlights which was first a massive hit with the Spice Girls and AllSaints in the mid 90s. This is the perfect trend to showcases where inspiration comes from and how in the salon we adapt it to be create everyday looks for our clients. We have the skill and knowledge to create the two-toned look but also the expertise to customise it for you.

Moving into the 2000s, the red and copper tones rocked by Rihanna in 2k is very much back. This trend has resurfaced along side others such as the Juicy Couture tracksuit. The first one to change it up was Kendal Jenner for Prada earlier this year and it’s progressed from there. Other celebrities are now following suit for new copper locks such as Phoebe Dynevor.

This month I have called upon Andrew Plester from our London salon to provide male grooming trends. Andrew has recently shortlisted for Men’s Hairdresser of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards, the creative pinnacle of our industry and something we take very seriously. Andrew has worked incredibly hard for his position and we’re delighted his talent and creative vision is being recognised by his peers.

‘Men are thankfully beginning to embrace their curls and this trend is massive with guys who have been fighting their curls for too long. The key to keeping this look fresh is a sharp fade that frames the curls on top. Another style coming through for men is a knockoff trend from last years mullet. This season the clipper work is cleaner and higher, similar to a mohawk but blended more through the sides to the back.’ Andrew Plester

The 90s was a strong decade for style. Taking inspiration from that era and developing it for today’s client is something that excites us. As mentioned above, this is my final insight from the world of hair. Please do feel free to visit our Esher salon at 7 High Street, KT10 9RL where myself and the team are always happy to talk about our favourite subject. You can also follow us on social at @hareandbone for the latest news from the team.
