The big screen is back from today and there is so much to choose from. Cinema chains including Odeon, Vue, Cineworld, Everyman and Showcase have been back-cataloguing so many hits from the past year of Covid that now reopening day is here their establishments are expected to be flooded.
There is a range of films to choose from including Oscar worthy Nomadland, Minari, Judas and the Black Messiah, Godzilla vs Kong, Peter Rabbit 2 and Tom & Jerry The Movie – all released on Monday 17th May.
The big belters due to come later in the year include James Bond – No Time To Die, Fast & Furious 9, Suicide Squad 2, Top Gun – Maverick and Ghostbusters After Life.
As Brits swap the comfort of their living room for the cinema, it is a testing time for the industry which saw cash fall at box offices by over £1 billion last year and many cinema branches were forced to shut.
As Netflix and Amazon on demand TV services saw the surge in lockdown, cinemas are now clawing back their share of the entertainment market.
