As I write this, I’m on my way back from Paris Fashion Week. It is a wonderful feeling to see the cities alive with creativity and energy again. My team and I can often be found backstage, creating hair for various designers, working within a brief and designing trends for fashion week is a key element of our work outside the salon. I built the HARE & BONE brand around my commitment to be fashion forward and style conscious – and being in the middle of the iconic LFW or PFW keeps our creative energy flowing.
Fashion Week is held twice a year, in February when the autumn/winter trends are showcased, and in September the spring/summer trends for the following year are presented. So while we have just presented next season trends for the catwalk let’s focus on how everyone will be styling their hair this spring/summer.
This 90s inspired look has been around for a while but isn’t going anywhere. It is supremely versatile and can be anything from a few face framing highlights to a chunky placement around the whole hairline. The Money Piece can bring back life to a grown out colour, offer a pop of brightness or highlight a more natural look. The options are limitless, it could be white, pink or if you’re feeling brave black over a white base. As the hairline is the most fragile part of your hair due to it being finer and getting more heat and styling, it is really important to only let a professional do this.
70’S REVIVAL
70’s have also made a comeback with warm sepia tones in fashion as much as hair. This season blondes are looking warmer and richer, anything from beige blondes to rich, buttery tones. The look can be pretty versatile and we can tailor it to suit all skin tones. On olive tones I suggest a richer biscuit blonde whilst warmer yellow tones will look great with a golden blonde. This can vary from a full head of highlights, balayage or a global all-over tinted blonde with added pieces, especially around the front and length to give it extra dimension.
BOTTLENECK BANGS
These are a hybrid between a grown out fringe and a full fringe, and the perfect option for anyone looking to try one out. Unlike a graphic fringe, the bottleneck cut gets longer at the edges and blends seamlessly with the rest of the hair. This means that the style is universal and can be tailored to suit all face shapes, which is what we’re about at HARE & BONE. Kaia Gerber, Jennifer Lopez and Dakota Johnson have all showcased this look perfectly.
TEXTURED BOBS
The ‘wolf’ and the ‘shag’ have been taken shorter to create a textured bob this spring/summer. Laura Harrier, Jodie Comer, Annabelle Dexter-Jones have given a great lesson on how going shorter can define your features. This season the bob is blunt cut but finished with textured waves that break up the clean lines that we have seen in previous years. I would suggest using a narrow set of BaByliss tongs to create the waves, and finish with Oribe Texturing Spray to add a side of disheveled style to the ‘undone’ look.
Myself and the team regularly travel for work. It could be London, Paris or Milan Fashion Week, but being in the salon is our favourite location. It’s where we can connect with clients and share the trend knowledge we’ve seen first-hand at fashion week. Forecasting future trends and working out the expert technique to re-create these trends for our clients is what we love to do. We create hair that works with the bone structure of the face, and we spend time getting to really know each client in order to create a hairstyle that truly complements you and your personal style.
