King Charles III recent cancer diagnosis has turned a much-need spotlight on male cancers, not just in the UK but globally. Charles broke royal protocol by announcing his health problems to the media, in the hope that more people will get checked out.<\/p>\n

BBC One\u2019s \u2018EastEnders\u2019 has also bravely tacked the subject of male cancers with one of its lead characters Alfie Moon (played by Shane Richie) having been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The show has touched on Alfie\u2019s diagnosis, his prostatectomy, hormone therapy and radiotherapy treatments.<\/p>\n

Although Palace officials have not given the exact details of Charles\u2019 cancer he was treated for an enlarged prostate in January.<\/p>\n

\n

Sadly 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime. If you\u2019re over 50, you\u2019re black or your dad\/brother has had it, you\u2019re at even higher risk. Prostate cancer is not always life-threatening but when it is the earlier you catch it the more likely it is to be cured.<\/p>\n

Possible prostate cancer symptoms include; difficulty starting to urinate or emptying your bladder, a weak flow when you urinate, a feeling that your bladder hasn\u2019t emptied properly, dribbling urine after you finish urinating, needing to urinate more often than usual (especially at night) and a sudden need to urinate. It is advised you make an appointment with your local GP if you are experiencing any of the problems listed above.<\/p>\n

However, most men with early prostate cancer don\u2019t have any signs or symptoms so ensure you get regular medical health checks at your GP; a simple urine test can detect high levels of PSA, an indicator you could have prostate cancer.<\/p>\n

Sit down with your hairstylist\/barber and set a plan of how you want your hair to look as it grows. Make sure to discuss your desired end goal, in terms of style and length and this will help your stylist to understand how to shape your hair and customise your current haircut to achieve your look.
