Slowly but surely, change is finally underway in the male beauty industry regarding the stereotypes of masculinity, with popular male icons – actor Paul Rudd and singer Harry Styles \u2013 seeming to be among the most popular.<\/p>\n
In order to determine which are the male celebrities that influence men\u2019s beauty routines the most, Humanery\u2019s experts screened a hundred of them, via Google data analysis. As a result, according to the men\u2019s skincare platform, two different men with two different styles from two different generations, made the grade as world-class skinfluencers \u2013 Paul and Harry!<\/p>\n
Paul Rudd, aged 53, clearly stands out taking first place in the ranking, with no less than 8,400 annual searches associating the American actor born in 1969 with the term \u2019skincare\u2019. In second place comes Harry Styles, aged 29 who, for the past few years, has been breaking down many preconceived ideas in the fashion industry, and has even launched his own gender-neutral beauty brand.<\/p>\n
He is followed by the British-American actor Andrew Garfield (with 4,800 searches) and the British actor Idris Elba, who just turned 50. David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, John Legend and Brad Pitt complete the ranking, which is testament to a certain diversity when it comes to skinfluence.<\/p>\n
“Our Google study shows that, apart from having great skin, there isn\u2019t one preferred \u2018type\u2019 of male celebrity skinfluencer. There is a real mix of ages, skin colors and professions, all encouraging men to up their skincare game. This can only be a good thing, as for years now, more men have needed to take better care of their skin, and if it\u2019s celebrities helping to make that happen, then we\u2019re here for it,” explains Thomas Watson, a skincare expert at Humanery.<\/p>\n
The study also reveals that searches for \u2019men\u2019s skincare\u2019 have jumped by 124% in the last three months.<\/p>\n
In recent years, several personalities have tried to build on the evolution of masculinity codes of by launching their own beauty brands: Harry Styles, of course, with his gender-neutral cosmetics brand called Pleasing, which includes skincare and also make-up, Machine Gun Kelly with a nail polish brand called UN\/DN LAQR, and Tyler, The Creator with his Golf Le Fleur line of nail polish and fragrances.<\/p>\n
Plus, Botox for men is on the rise too \u2013 up 182% since the turn of the century \u2013 with many males getting the anti-ageing injections just as they would a haircut these days. Surrey Rocks spoke to Marina at Icon Style Beauty in Cobham who has witnessed an uptake in Botox treatments among her male clients.<\/p>\n
\u201cBotox can erase signs of ageing, thereby boosting confidence and mood,\u201d she explained. \u201cSimilarly it can open doors for men in their careers and personal lives which can lead to a boost in their quality of life and happiness.\u201d<\/p>\n
