Leatherhead-based Skoops Restaurant has definitely stood the test of time. Having opened in 2019 to great fanfare and a packed restaurant and takeaway service daily, the family-run eatery has been delighting locals in the Mole Valley area with their amazing selection of sundaes, waffles, pancakes, cakes, ice-creams, milkshakes and cookie dough concoctions for 6 years now, alongside their enticing savoury options, as detailed below!
AWARD-WINNING
Skoops has been nominated and won twice at the Surrey Awards 2023 and 2024 in the ‘Best Dessert Bar’ category, beating the local competition including The Little Dessert Bar in Epsom and Woking and chains including My Froyoland and Mooh. They are going for their third award win at this year’s Surrey Awards in May 2025, at a soon-to-be-announced venue. Surrey Rocks had the pleasure of catching up with Qais, co-owner of Skoops. Entrepreneur Qais, 25, and his father Dider, 49, set up Skoops with the premise of “bringing the freshest and finest desserts to Surrey”. That they have achieved in spades! In only 6 years in business (and 2 of those surviving Covid, that put a lot of independents out of business) Skoops has firmly established itself as the leading purveyor of desserts and more recently savoury food in the area. SAVOURY FOOD
Skoops introduced savoury food onto their diverse menus with home-cooked, original recipe Peri Peri Chicken, Gourmet Burgers, Smash Burgers from SoBe and Chicken and Vegetarian Burgers in 2021. Alongside their authentic, homemade, spiced rice and chilli fries, their selection of delectable fast food takes up 8 sides of their menu! Available on Just Eats, Deliveroo and for eat-in, take-away or home delivery via a dedicated Skoops delivery team – their offering of food and the way to get it is incredulous. Expect to get your piping hot food in under 20 minutes to nearby towns including Leatherhead, Fetcham, Bookham, Effingham, Ashtead and Epsom.

Qais said, “Yes, and that can easily be more if you experiment with all our ingredients on offer. We recently knocked up a Ferrero Rocher, Nutella and Biscoff Milkshake for a customer! Your wish is our command! Ordering off menu is a great idea and can make the tastiest of combinations.”
WHAT’S NEXT FOR SKOOPS
Skoops have now started offering catered food for parties, corporate dos and events – at the moment they can cater for up to 50 guests at a time. By the Summer of 2025 with new kitchens and maybe another branch opening – they hope to expand their offering to over 100 guests. As one of the first and foremost independent dessert bar offerings in Surrey, we can really see Skoops making a mark on the county with branches to open elsewhere soon.
