New cocktail bar Freudenhaus opened its’ doors at the start of the month in Puerto Banus, Avenida Jose Banus next to Japanese Sakura Restaurant – just a stones throw from the famous port. Designed to be an after dinner venue Freudenhaus serves a wide choice of house, signature, classic and seasonal cocktail

The interior designer of Freudenhaus is already a well known name in Europe – their latest projects include DSTRKT London, a restaurant and bar in central London, which has been selected as “Best new club in London” in 2012 at the London club and bar awards, and “Best Club” in 2013 and 2014 in the same awards.

They have completed The Pearl in Berlin last year, which has been shortlisted for three awards at this year’s edition of the prestigious Restaurant and Bar Design Awards and many more.

Freudenhaus Marbella design aims for the surroundings to compliment the content of the bar – in this case the content of the bar is “The Best Cocktails in Costa del Sol.”  So we tried to give those cocktails a nice environment. The style of the venue could only be described as contemporary, decadent and chic.

The owners of the bar come from Germany – after coming over to Marbella for years, playing golf and enjoying the best weather in Europe all year round, they couldn’t find a place dedicated to the best quality cocktails, so that’s why they decided to create one of their own. The drink list and quality of cocktails is something not to be compromised. The best choice of labels, fresh fruit, organic bitters and the way of serving must be the top.

For making this all come together they were able to involve well known bartender, Sam Vanderfelt, who has the passion and experience to shake and stir top cocktails, with 17 years behind the bar and 8 of those doing cocktails – the perfect match was found. Sam has worked in 5* hotels and beach clubs and some of the best bars in the business (Ocean Club, Purobeach, Hotel Puente Romano, Sea Grill, Tokonoma, Marbella Club, Namazake and Suite to mention some.) He loves herbs, spices and organic products and lots of tropical fruits as they remind him of home. Sam is a big fan of Caribbean rums for mixing and Smokey whiskey for drinking, especially the Japanese varieties. He is very excited and thankful to be part of this new and exciting project that is Freudenhaus and says that it is the best menu he has created so far! We can assure you – it’s worth tasting.
