LET\u2019S START AT THE BEGINNING, HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?<\/p>\n
Katie: We met way back in 2005- I was fresh out of university having just started up a wedding planning company. I needed a florist and so fate- and the Yellow Pages sent me Claire!<\/p>\n
Claire:<\/em> We worked on numerous weddings and events together over the next few years and then remained friends ever since.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n HOW DID THE IDEA OF LAUNCHING THE FLOWER BLOOMS COME ABOUT?<\/p>\n Katie:<\/em> On a bench, in the pouring rain at our local garden centre! We\u2019d met there with our little ones about a month before the first lockdown, and Claire mentioned that she\u2019d had a new business idea that she wanted to run by me.<\/p>\n Claire:<\/em> Having worked in the floristry industry for over twenty-five years, the business idea felt like the perfect next step in my career. I\u2019d watched the popularity of flower subscriptions grow- but I wanted to create something different and better.<\/p>\n Katie was doing some great work in digital content and social media management, so I just knew we\u2019d be the perfect team to build this business.<\/p>\n We spent most of the pandemic building the foundations of the business and then the day our website went live, we messaged everyone we knew and every celebrity in the Surrey- South London area. We had the biggest shock when Amanda Holden signed up and became our first customer!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM YOUR COMPETITORS?<\/p>\n Katie:<\/em> We aim to be the \u2018Ultimate Flower Club\u2019 and there are so many perks to being a member. We offer a range of different type of flowers – flowers you won\u2019t find in the supermarkets or would be super expensive directly from a florist.<\/p>\n Claire:<\/em> We focus on Value, Experience and Quality for all aspects of our business.<\/p>\n Our members receive great value for money. Our Bundles contains anywhere between 20-40 stems – which is more often than not, double the amount of stems that you\u2019ll receive with any of our competitors. We hand-deliver all of our bundles, so our members know that their flowers are handled with care from the moment they leave our workshop to when they arrive on their doorstep. As a zero-waste business, we never let any flowers go to waste so if there are ever any left over, we give these to our customers as Bonus Blooms alongside their bundle.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n WHERE DO YOU SOURCE YOUR FLOWERS AND WHY?<\/p>\n Katie:<\/em> We source our flowers from a mixture of both British and Dutch suppliers depending on the seasons and availability.<\/p>\n Claire:<\/em> We want to give our customers a range of flowers- something that isn\u2019t possible all year round with British suppliers. But we offset any emissions we use with the regular planting of trees via Ecologi and all of the vehicles we use are ULES Compliant.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n WHAT TYPES OF FLOWERS CAN MEMBERS EXPECT TO RECEIVE IN THEIR BUNDLES?<\/p>\n Katie:<\/em> Claire gets so excited about the different types of flowers she orders for our members.<\/p>\n Claire:<\/em> I love choosing the flowers each week. We use everything from Parrot and Double Tulips, to Cherry Blossom, Anemones, Hyacinths, a whole range of Roses and of course Peonies. Peonies are our absolute favourite!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n HOW MANY VASES WOULD A TYPICAL BUNDLE FILL?<\/p>\n Katie:<\/em> We always aim for one bundle to fill at least two vases to place around the home or workspace.<\/p>\n Claire:<\/em> The beauty of the Flower Club, is that our flowers can be displayed as one really large vase arrangement – or two-three, sometimes even four small vases.<\/p>\n We give you a few options each week to guide you through the arranging process and to help our members really get the most out of every bundle.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n WHERE DO YOU CURRENTLY DELIVER TO?<\/p>\n Katie:<\/em> At present we cover the whole of Surrey, South West London, Twickenham and Teddington.<\/p>\n Claire:<\/em> We really hope to expand our delivery areas one day. Whether we do this by franchising or outsourcing deliveries, we\u2019re not sure at this stage. We just really want to become a well known brand in Surrey and South West London- that would make us really happy.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST THIS YEAR WITH THE FLOWER BLOOMS?<\/p>\n Katie:<\/em> We are exhibiting at the Hampton Court Flower Festival again this year and we can\u2019t blooming wait!
