I wanted to dedicate this months column to one of my favourite topics\u2026food! I\u2019m not sure if its my Greek genes but I would definitely call myself a foodie. One of my favourite things to do is eating out, and this month all I seem to have done is just that.<\/p>\n
Luckily, one of my favourite Surrey hotels is right on my doorstep. Beaverbrook is a quintessentially English estate nestled in the Surrey Hills. The interiors are inspired by the surrounding gardens which makes for a delightful spot. Lunch at the Garden House is always a good idea. The Japanese restaurant is also a must – don\u2019t let the sashimi covered in ants put you off, its actually really tasty!<\/p>\n
My two best friends and I decided it would be fun to check out the new Crazy Pizza in Marylebone. If pizza and sing-a-long worthy tunes are your thing, then this is the place for you. The pizza itself was scrumptious, with an ultra thin crust and mouth watering toppings. I went for spicy salami which perfectly complemented the creamy mozzarella. We had a bottle (or two) of our favourite Whispering Angel ros\u00e9. We finished off with a traditional tiramisu which was theatrically prepared table-side. In the midst of our feast, the music would occasionally be turned up a few decibels higher to which people started dancing on the spot, waving their napkins in the air!<\/p>\n
Another restaurant I visited this month was the Dior caf\u00e9 at Selfridges rooftop. Bookings here are very sought after. It\u2019s the perfect holiday feel in the heart of London. Who needs the Italian Riviera?! Weather permitting of course. If you have been to any of the Alto restaurants then you will be familiar with the extensive menu. Personally, when I see truffle pasta on the menu, there is no need to look any further.<\/p>\n
Another sought after booking is Tiger Lodge at Port Lympne hotel. The wait for a weekend stay in this room is usually around a year. It really is a once in a lifetime experience waking up with a tiger at your window. You also get to explore the resort in your personal golf buggy. There are many other types of accommodation here without the year wait, all including a safari tour. It was fascinating and humbling to learn all about how Port Lympne aims to breed, nurture and release many endangered species back into the wild.<\/p>\n
Talking of fun weekend plans, what does one do on the hottest day of the year? Head to the beach of course. West Wittering had caught my attention with its long sandy beach and crystal clear water. After a wonderful day, we headed home with two tired children. Realising I didn\u2019t have much in the fridge, I thought the only option was to stop off at McDonalds at Cobham services on the way home. Don\u2019t get me wrong, I\u2019m all for fancy restaurants, but sometimes, you just need a Maccy D\u2019s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
