A beautiful gem of a restaurant has just opened up in Estepona Marina serving the quality of fine dining you´d expect from a 5-star Marbella eatery but at affordable prices.

Limonero is the brainchild of experienced restauranteur and hotelier Mike Griffin, who has run successful restaurants in London and the home counties for over 40 years. Together with his business partner, Susan they came up with the concept of Limonero and found a perfect venue to accommodate their visionary restaurant, overlooking the stunning marina in Estepona.

There are two things that will strike you when you walk into Limonero when it opens its ethereal archway doors on March 1st. Firstly, the it has been totally renovated throughout with classic wooden decor and a fully stocked front of house bar with seating on large comfortable chairs. Secondly the menu. It is so wide and varied that you´d be hard pushed to decide on just the one starter, main course and dessert.

Our reviewers opted for the highly recommended starter dishes of Chicken liver parfait, apricot chutney and melba toast and Limonero garlic mushrooms presented in a filo pastry basket with salad garnish. Both were exquisite. The latter even more so as it was so beautifully presented yet entirely edible.

For mains the choice was even harder! Among the dishes on offer you can choose Filleted sea bass with a red pepper puree, Beer battered cod served with chunky chips and mushy or garden peas, King prawn and scallop provencal served with basmati rice or Stuffed supreme of chicken wrapped in pancetta stuffed with mozzarella cheese. Plus there´s an array of salads, pastas and soups to choose from if you prefer a lighter option.

The tasters went for the classy combination of Monkfish skewer wrapped in pancetta which was bursting with flavour and the Rumpelstiltskin Limonero, which is a prime marinated rump steak topped with bubbling stilton cheese, was simply divine! A must try dish.

All mains are served with your choice of salad or fresh vegetables of the day.

As well as seeing a gap in the market for an affordable, fine dining restaurant for lunches and dinners, Limonero´s Mike Griffin has noticed there´s not a great deal of local restaurants offering a tasty, yet healthy option for breakfast.

So righting that wrong, Limonero restaurant will be opening from 9am to serve a range of tasty options that veer away from English breakfasts we have become so accustomed to being bombarded by on the Costa del Sol. Pop by and try a Traditional continental eggs benedict or Eggs Limonero, which is poached eggs with smoked salmon. All bread is freshly made on site too.

There is another great appeal to Limonero that will make it an even popular choice in summer. The back of the restaurant has its very own exclusive chill out area and private bar that can hold an additional 100-150 people.

Limonero are planning DJ and themed nights to accommodate and entertain crowds at weekends in the summer. In quieter months it will be the perfect area to escape to enjoy a pre or post dinner cocktail.
