The famous De Medici Restaurant has undergone a complete transformation with new ownership and a menu containing the finest international cuisine on the coast.
The new De Medici is barely unrecognisable from its previous colour-clashing interior. The image overhaul has seen a fantastic new, modern, white and grey themed décor and a beautiful terrace and bar area transform the stunning space which benefits from high ceilings, chandeliers and abstract art and murials adorning the walls.
New owners Jonathan and Carole Sobell have renowned industry knowledge with four generations of experience in catering and events. They have looked after Madonna, Bill Clinton and Michael Jackson so you know your visit to this amazing new restaurant will be something special!
The De Medici restaurant menu is incredibly vast and has something to cater for everyone. Co-owner Jonathan has travelled the world extensively and has taken the best dishes from around the world, teamed with the freshest local and international ingredients, to make up this superb, tastebud-tantalising menu. The head chef was originally from Claridge´s in London – another string to the De Medici bow!
For start our tasters went for the Steamed Asparagus topped with Hollandaise Sauce, which was cooked to perfection and the sauce was a tangy and light accompaniment. The starter portion of Tuna Tartare with Guacamole, Fresh Herbs and a Yuzu Dressing was also fantastic. The tuna was so fresh and sumptuous it literally melted in your mouth.
For main our testers went for the famous Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb served with mash potato, seasonal vegetables and the most delicious red wine jus. It was just the right portion size and the lamb, which is sometimes a tricky meat for restaurants in Spain to get right, was top notch.
Another firm favourite on the menu is the Veal Milanese. Served with spaghetti, fries and seasonal vegetables. The veal was delicious and the beautifully presented spaghetti with tomato and basil sauce accompaniment was divine. De Medici also garnish all their starter and main courses with edible flowers – another nice little touch.
The service at De Medici is also second to none. The staff were friendly without being overbearing and the recommendations, including wine matching with our courses, was exemplary. The owners are also regularly in attendance and are incredibly warm, welcoming and like to see each customer is getting the star treatment they should be receiving on a day or night out to De Medici.
