19 years after the start of one of the most phenomenal novel/film series in history, JK Rowling is back and publishing Harry Potter and The Cursed Child this summer.
Rowling wrote The Cursed Child as a script, which is now due to be published as a book for all of us Potterheads shortly after midnight on July 31st. As well as being published the day of Harry’s birthday, it is also the day after the play opens in London… what a day for now multi-millionaire Rowling.
The Cursed Child is the official sequel to the previous seven books. Set 19 years after the previous novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows from 2007, Harry is now an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and a father of three school-age children. The story is heavily focused on Harry’s youngest child Albus Severus, as quoted in the synopsis published on Pottermore in 2015.
Luckily for us Rowling decided to publish the script as a play due to huge public demand for the story to continue. Keep an eye out this summer for a blast from the past for Harry and Albus’s struggle with the weight of the family legacy. The story unfolds as the family learn the troublesome truth that sometimes darkness creeps up on you from unforeseen places. Sure to be another JK Rowling classic.
