Leicester-based  band Kasabian are releasing their 8th studio album ‘Happenings’ on July 5th via Columbia Records, marking exactly 20 years since they released their first ever album entitled ‘Kasabian’ back in 2004.

Discussing the first single ‘Call’ – Kasabian frontman Serge Pizzorno said, “This was the launchpad. Quieter on the verses, loud for the chorus – it’s dance music! The first bit is where you get ready, the second bit is where we all go crazy. It’s really fun and just feels like now. When I finished the track, I felt I wanted to go to a gig by whoever was behind it. Everything for this album was informed by that way of working.”

Discussing the new album ‘Happenings’, Pizzorno added, “Thinking about where we are with phone screens, us being able to create something that people can be a part of in the real world has got to be a positive. I’ve seen it in people’s faces at the shows, that need to experience something that just snaps you out for yourself, to feel a connection. Well, that’s Happenings. It’s 20 years this year since we released our debut album, but we felt the best way this band, at this time, should celebrate that was by making a new album.”

On July 6th, Kasabian will play a huge hometown show in Leicester, where they will be supported by fellow artists, Kaiser Chiefs, who the band are firm friends with. Kasabian’s last album, ‘The Alchemist’s Euphoria’, was released in 2022. It was the band’s first album without former frontman Tom Meighan who was sacked from Kasabian shortly before being convicted of assaulting his partner in July 2020, after spending 16 years with the hit-making band.
