Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have been through it all and some. The couple who dated in 2002, got engaged in 2003, broke up in 2004, got back together in 2021 and remarried in 2022 – have finally called it a day.
Jennifer Lopez was the one who filed for divorce on Tuesday August 20th citing “irreconcilable differences” in her petition. She also asked the court to change her legal name from Affleck back to Lopez. Noticeably this date would have been the second anniversary of their wedding celebration.
So where did it all go wrong? First of all, the couple had been living apart for a number of months and were rarely seen together. J-Lo, aged 55, went on tour (not supported by Ben, 52) and they also put their $60m Beverly Hills mansion on the market, with Ben choosing to stay at a flat in Brentwood instead of the marital home.
Another sign that things are not good in “Camp Bennifer” was the fact that Ben was pictured out without his wedding ring on in May and a week later J-Lo was on social media liking posts on “unhealthy relationships”.
Entertainment Weekly also reported that the couple “are staying in separate homes and tension is high,” while In Touch Magazine ran a report from an insider, saying: “The writing’s on the wall. It’s over. They’re headed for a divorce and (for once) Ben’s not to blame.”
Just days after the divorce petition was filed, Ben was seen collecting a takeaway and smiling in paparazzi pictures. J-Lo has yet to be seen out and about since filing – keeping a very low profile.
We are sure given the couple’s “Powerhouse” status, no mud will be slung here.
