OUR EXPERIENCE

We arrived for lunch on a lovely, hot Summer’s day in June and even the drive through the enchanting woodland that surrounds Hilton Cobham was pure pleasure.

It really is an escape from the hustle and bustle of the busy neighbouring towns of Cobham, Esher and Weybridge. Located just off the A3, (but with no sounds from the traffic) Hilton Cobham has its own private no-through road and huge, statuesque trees. My intrepid co-diner Matt described it as akin to the forests he visited in Jellystone Park in the United States where trees grow to over 250 feet.

On arrival to the Hilton Cobham main reception we were greeted warmly by the friendly Hilton staff. The hotel is grand, bright, airy and oozes luxury and sophistication.

A short walk through the ground floor and you come to the Seven Hills Restaurant, Bar & Terrace, which has 3 impressive different dining areas: the lounge, the dining room and the outdoor terrace.

As the weather was on our side, we opted to eat outside on the terrace, with fantastic views over the Hilton grounds. There is something so calm and soothing about being surrounded by nature and there is plenty of it here. The flowers that line the whole terrace were beautiful too, lots of lavender, peonies and colour.

Our charming waitress for the day was Food & Beverage Assistant Thea, who was perfect (and although she apologised for being new!) she knew her stuff and made us feel instantly welcome. We were also introduced to Bar Manager and ‘Master Mixologist’ Ryan who really does make the best cocktails!

On both Matt (who had visited recently) and Ryan’s recommendation we went for two Porn Star Martinis, which were the best we have ever tasted. The passion fruit juice in the cocktails was fresh…… no cartons here! And the half passion fruit was quarterised so you could taste the fresh fruit when drinking. Plus, the accompanying Prosecco shot was delicious, which does make the cocktail after all, and the Hilton Cobham only use the finest Grey Goose Vodka in their Martinis. Thanks Ryan!

Now onto the fabulous food. The all-day menu that we ordered from had 25 tantalising options to choose from. You can choose from their ‘Light Bites’ such as ‘Tempura Squid’, ‘Spiced Lamb Kofta’ or ‘Pork & Apple Sausage Roll’ (yum!) or cold sandwich options like the ‘Classic BLT’, ‘Honey Roasted Ham and Chilli Chutney’ or the ‘Mezze Flatbread’ sharing platter which comes with hummus, roasted vegetables, plant-based feta and root vegetable crisps. Or go for hot sandwiches like the ‘Meatball Bun’ with meatballs, tomato chutney, pesto plant mayo, fresh basil (from their herb garden!) rocket and fries or the nostalgic ‘Posh Fish Finger Sandwich’ with crispy sole fillets, pickles, tartare sauce, pea shoots on a sourdough bun with fries.

Matt decided to go for the ‘Chicken Club Sandwich’ which you can have on either wholewheat or white toasted bloomer with chicken, bacon, mayo, salad and fries.

It was so fresh and delicious; with plenty of chicken breast and crispy bacon it was also seriously big with its multiple layers. Not too big to eat though, as Matt devoured it by pressing down on the sizeable sandwich so it could fit in his mouth! The fries were delicious too, cooked with skin-on they were really crispy and came with lots of dipping options (cue cute mini Heinz Tomato Ketchup and Hellman’s Mayonnaise jars – which we all know the kids love!)

I went for the ‘Smash Cheeseburger’ which consisted of a beef patty, smoked cheddar, BBQ relish, ranch dressing, gem lettuce, tomato, pickles, potato bun and fries. You can choose to have with bacon, which I did. It was amazing and beautifully presented. The beef patty was so tender and cooked to perfection. The flavours of the ranch dressing alongside the BBQ relish were immense – a perfect accompaniment to the tastiest burger. This dish is highly recommended!

After we had finished the meal, Melroy the Manager popped by to say hello and check we had enjoyed our experience. A wholehearted yes was the answer from both myself and Matt!

We browsed the dessert menu with Sweet Treats including the ‘Pastel De Nata’ which is a mini Portuguese custard tart or the ‘Mochi Ice-Cream’ – choose from salted caramel, coconut or raspberry flavoured ice-cream inside a chewy rice flour dough casing or the ‘Rich Chocolate Brownie’ offset with sea salt.

Honestly after the hugest and most delicious mains (with a side of the crispy ‘Tempura Squid’ with chilli mayo dip – another winning dish!) we were so full, we passed on the dessert option but we will definitely be back soon to try out.

IN SUMMARY

One of the tastiest meals we have had in ages. The Seven Hills Restaurant, Bar & Terrace is a must try. Beautiful location, amazing food, great cocktails and superb service. You will love it. To avoid disappointment, make sure to book ahead, as it gets very busy especially on weekends.
