A hidden gem of a restaurant, which is, just outside the La Casita campsite next to the Alcaidesa community and across the road from the famous golfing resort of San Roque Club. This restaurant is a great find as it serves some of the best Thai food on the Costa del Sol, yet you would never know it was here. La Finca Fusion rarely advertises and they rely on word of mouth from pleased customers, many of which return week after week.
La Finca is set inside a 300 year old Finca (hence its name). In the past all the land, which makes up Alcaidesa, San Roque Club and Sotogrande belonged to this Finca. Over the years land was sold, now La Finca is nearly all that remains of this once vast estate. La Finca is family owned and operated by the descendants of the original family.
With low level lighting and bright, exuberant décor, this restaurant oozes old-Spanish, rustic charm- which the owners work hard to maintain.
The menu is varied with an array of starters including chicken satay, tempura prawns and dumplings to name a few. The main dishes are where La Finca excel though. La Finca is a fusion restaurant and prides itself in blending traditional Thai with local produce. The special of Wild Boar Massaman curry takes advantage of local wild board and is something to be experienced. The Panang Steak, a tender filet with panang curry drizzled on top, is another dish that is unique to La Finca. Of course you can always get traditional Thai like Green Curry, Pad Thai, and a variety if stir fry dishes all of which are highly recommended. The restaurant has weekly specials, which take advantage of fresh local seafood.
Some dishes come spicy- look for the chilli peppers on the menu! And while an extra hot may be for most palettes, it is incredibly spicy. The waiter will always add caution when ordering! La Finca can always cater to those who want dishes on the mild side.
The wine list is also varied and has something for everyone, we went for Le Cibron, which was a perfect accompaniment to the spice of the main dishes. There’s even two bars on site serving locally brewed IPA ales, a must if you fancy something different then the typical Spanish beers.
Not only is there great service, great food in a beautiful and historical location but there is live music every Friday night. Book a table outside to enjoy it to its fullest in the summer or by the fireplaces in the winter. La Finca has a very large private function room, which can be great for private parties.
